Gamblers on the Way Home from Casino Are Robbed

24 May 2005

LEESBURG, Virginia -- Gamblers on their way home from a West Virginia casino were robbed in two separate incidents this month, and Loudoun County officials said Monday they were looking into whether the cases are connected.

In each instance, the victim was heading back from the Charles Town Races and Slots in neighboring Charles Town, W.Va. The first crime occurred May 2 at about 5 a.m. in Ashburn. The victim said his car was rear-ended on Route 7 by a blue Cadillac. Both drivers got out to take a look, but the victim told investigators the Cadillac driver suddenly attacked him and stole nearly $2,000.
