QUEBEC, Canada -- As reported by the CBC: "Loto-Quebec is temporarily protecting the identities of winners who hit jackpots of $4 million and more after an alleged plot to extort money from a couple who won $27 million was exposed.
"The policy, a first for the provincial lottery corporation, was put into place in the weeks after the incident, spokesman Jean-Pierre Roy said Tuesday.
"'We're going to try to have a policy that respects the public's right to know — they buy the tickets — and the media's interest,' he told the Canadian Press..."
