LUMMI RESERVATION, Washington -- As reported by the Bellingham Herald: "The Silver Reef Casino is ready to grow again, with an 8,000-squarefoot expansion set to break ground in May.
"Lummi Indian Business Council Chairman Henry Cagey said the $8 million project will take about six months to complete and will enable the tribal casino to add another 200 gaming machines to the current total of 675.
"Cagey said the opening of the Nooksack Northwood Casino last November has had no noticeable impact on business at Silver Reef, which opened six years ago at Haxton Way and Slater Road and has already expanded twice.
"...The latest expansion is an outgrowth of a legal settlement a year ago involving the state of Washington and the Spokane Tribe, which had been operating a casino without a legal agreement with the state..."
