Fair Grounds' races will go online

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana -- As reported by The Louisville Courier-Journal: "Races from Churchill Downs Inc.'s New Orleans track will be available through most online and telephone wagering companies, under a revenue-sharing agreement reached yesterday between the Louisville-based company and a Louisiana horsemen's group.

"The races from Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots, which begin tomorrow, will be available on national account-wagering Web sites like Churchill's TwinSpires, Magna Entertainment Corp.'s XpressBet and Youbet. The races will not, however, be available through TVG.

"Details of the revenue agreement were not disclosed.

"Account wagering, also known as advance-deposit wagering, is viewed in the industry as the best hope to expand the declining pari-mutuel market. But the possibilities have been hampered for more than a year by disputes among account-wagering companies about pricing and between horsemen and tracks over revenue sharing..."
