Does Your Knowledge of Slot Operations Give You an Advantage?

15 June 2009

By John Robison

John:

I have often wondered if someone with your knowledge of slot machines could likely do a better job of winning at a typical slot. Better job than who you ask. I mean the guy off the streets who does not make his living in gaming. Question: Does your knowledge of slot operation give you much if any advantage?

Thanks,
Earl

Dear Earl,

I wish I had an advantage, but I don't. Slots are a great equalizer. Everyone's chances are the same as soon as we push the spin button. The RNG doesn't care how much or how little we know about how it operates when it determines the result of a spin.

Best of luck in and out of the casinos,
John
