Alberta makes changes to VLTs to reduce problem gambling

20 March 2013

ALBERTA, Canada -- In response to problem gambling concerns, Alberta is replacing its VLT machines, according to a Calgary Herald report.

The new machines will not accept more than $100 and include measures such as time limits on them, the report explained.

The gaming commission described the measures as offering players "tools to manage their play" in the Calgary Herald report.

Critics contend players can still move to another machine and that the measures do not go far enough, the report noted.
