Australia: Welfare cheats who gamble 'will be caught'

QUEENSLAND, Australia -- More than 2,000 welfare cheats are suspected to have also been involved in gambling in 2006-2007, ABC reported.

The scams may also be linked to organised crime groups who launder money through the casinos, ABC reported.

Proceedings have commenced to recover the stolen money, charges may follow, The ABC report noted.
