ELMONT, New York -- Following California Chrome's 5th place finish at Saturday's Belmont Stakes, the horse's co-owner has issued a contrite apology for his ungentlemanly ranting after the race, The Globe and Mail reported.
Steve Coburn admitted he was uber emotional and disappointed after the race when he described the winning horse Tonalist and his jockey as "damned cheaters" and "cowards", the report explained.
Mr Coburn since upgraded his assessment and acknowledged that Tonalist ran a beautiful race and deserved to win, The Globe and Mail report said.
California Chrome had been hotly tipped to take the Triple Crown, the report said.
