Dessert name prompts lawsuit from Golden Nugget parent

LAS VEGAS -- Landry's Gaming, Inc., which owns hotel-casinos on Fremont Street and in Laughlin, sued LongHorn in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas on Tuesday for poaching the trademarked Golden Nugget name. LongHorn, owned by Orlando, Fla.-based Darden Restaurants Inc., took the name for its chunks of cheesecake that are breaded and fried and served over vanilla ice cream and strawberry sauce and priced at $5.99.

Besides the Golden Nugget - Las Vegas and Golden Nugget - Laughlin, Landry's owns several restaurants locally, including Landry's Seafood House, McCormick & Schmick's and the Rainforest Cafe.
