Illinois: Gov. nixes gambling expansion

SPRINGFIELD, Ilinois -- In an unsurprising move, Gov. Pat Quinn today put the brakes on gambling expansion, The Chicago Tribune reported.

Quinn's veto also means the legislation is untouchable by the General Assembly because it's a new assembly and not from the same legislative session, the report said.

Quinn's resistance to gambling expansion lies in his concern over safeguards, The Chicago Tribune report said.
