Las Vegas 'goes green' for St. Patrick's Day

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) will turn the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign green in partnership with Tourism Ireland's "Global Greening Initiative," which coincides with St. Patrick's Day. This is the sixth year Las Vegas has participated in the global event.

Other iconic landmarks participating include the Colosseum in Rome, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the fountains in London's Trafalgar Square, Chimo the Polar Bear statue in Ontario and the San Mam├ęs stadium in Bilbao, among others. Local landmarks going green for St. Patrick's Day include The High Roller at The LINQ Promenade, Keep Memory Alive Event Center, Silverton Casino, ONE Summerlin at Downtown Summerlin and the historic La Concha Visitors Center at the Neon Museum.

It starts Thursday, 15 March at 6:30 p.m. (The sign will remain green through 18 March.)
