Massachusetts deadline passes with 11 applicants

MASSACHUSETTS -- With Tuesday's deadline now past, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission announced there are 11 applications to operate casinos or slot parlors, according to a report in the Cape Cod Times.

Each applicant had to fork out $400,000 for background checks, the report said.

The decision on the slot license will be made this year, the Cape Cod Times reported.
