Massachusetts dog tracks may get reprieve on betting

9 November 2009

MASSACHUSETTS -- State dog tracks may get a break if legislation allowing them to operate as off-track betting parlors is approved, the Boston Herald reported today.

A recent voter approved ban on dog racing threatens the tracks from Jan 1, 2010, unless patrons can wager on races broadcast from other tracks.

1,300 employees face job loss in January, the report said.
