Money Management

19 May 2012

By John Marchel

If you have followed just about any writer of Casino City Times you would have read that money management can play a big part of winning when it comes to casino gambling. I strongly feel that money management techniques can be just as important to your game as learning the game itself.

Here are a few items for you to consider.

  • Money management by itself will not make you win more hands, but it will allow you to play more hands.
  • Your bankroll determines what games you can play, what bets you can make, how high your bets can be, and the amount of time you can play.
  • Keeping records of your play will help in analyzing your performance, thereby, allowing you to do some adjusting, as necessary, during future visits.
  • You need to know and practice your game so you know automatically what your next action is when playing and how much to bet.
  • Don't try to play the way a high roller might play. Remember this, the fact that someone has a large bankroll does not automatically make them an expert player.

Use money management techniques while gaming and they will help you be more successful. Lastly, When it comes to casino gambling, it's important for your overall wellbeing to have fun, and most of all, try to quit while you're ahead.

Bet You Didn't Know

  • At its peak in 1876, Virginia City, Nevada, home of the gold and silver Comstock Lode, was the second largest city in the West with a population of 30,000. Today, only about 850 people still live in Virginia City and it is designated a National Historic District.
  • Over a thousand definite words and phrases are used in poker literature and heard in poker games.
  • Do you know what a Gambler Master is? It has nothing to do with gaming. It is a United States Dog Agility Association (USDAA) title. A "gamblers" course tests a dog/handler team's ability to work together at a distance. A superior performance is awarded Gambler Master.
  • In the 1800s in Germany, a Lotto game similar to Bingo was used as an educational tool that was designed to teach children multiplication tables.
  • In 2005 at a chip collector's convention in Las Vegas, a $25 chip used at the Sahara Hotel & Casino during the early 1950s sold for $70,000.
  • The famous sign "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada" has been welcoming folks on the Las Vegas Strip since around 1959. A local woman artist named Betty Whitehead Willis created it for Clark County, Nevada. The sign cost the county $4,000 and on May 1, 2009, the sign was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
