Mountaineer Casino sued over room tax

NEW CUMBERLAND, West Virginia -- Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort is being sued by Hancock County for not charging hotel occupancy tax on comped rooms, according to the Wheeling News-Register.

The lawsuit alleges the casino did not correctly collect the room tax, but the casino maintains it followed tax procedures correctly, the report said.

The lawsuit cover the time period since March 2009 when the County alleges the casino stopped charging the room tax properly, the Wheeling News-Register said.
