WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A significant navy figure with responsibility for the United States nuclear weapons arsenal has been fired, the BBC is reporting.
Tim Giardina, a Navy admiral, is alleged to have participated in illegal gambling, which resulted in his termination, according to the report.
His case, also reported last week on Casino City Times, stemmed from accusations he used fake gambling chips in an Iowa casino. At that time, Iowa state had elected not to charge him and the matter then passed to the Navy Criminal Investigation Unit, who have terminated his employment according to today's BBC report.
