North Carolina: Sweepstakes video ban takes effect

NORTH CAROLINA -- A state ban on video sweepstakes has taken effect, The Charlotte Observer reported.

Charlotte sweepstakes parlors are consequently closed, the report said.

Parlor owners hope the closure will be temporary and plan to change the games to attempt to bypass the ban, according to the Charlotte Observer report.
