DUBLIN, Ireland -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Paddy Power Poker today announces a unique doubles no-limit hold’em event for the upcoming Irish Winter Festival at the Burlington Hotel, Dublin, Ireland.
The €50 + €5 buy in event will see two players make up each team and alternate at the table every level. The structure is double chance with a starting stack of 5,000 for player one at the start of level one and a starting stack for player two at the start of level two of 5,000 plus player one’s chip stack after the first level. There will be a 20-minute clock.
Confirmed for the event so far are Olympic boxing medalists Paddy Barnes and Michael Conlon, former Irish Open winners Neil Channing and James Mitchell, former World Series of Poker main event finalist Padraig Parkinson and former Irish rugby international Reggie Corrigan, and well-known poker writers Rebecca McAdam and Jen Mason.
Boxers Barnes and Conlon will have a bounty on their heads - anyone who eliminates either of them will win free entry into the Monday €100 + €15 NLH game.
Paddy Power, spokesman for the site, said, “We’re privileged to have two bona fide Olympic heroes swap their boxing gloves for poker hands at the Irish Winter Festival.
“Paddy Barnes and Michael Conlon both won bronze medals in London as a result of focus, determination and no small amount of skill, traits which we expect will serve them well at the poker table. We look forward to see players try to trash talk these guys!”
Elsewhere this Sunday sees the Irish Winter Festival Mega Satellite, which will take place next Sunday, October 14, 2012, at 8 p.m. at paddypowerpoker.com.
The €180 + €12 buy in no-limit hold’em tournament has 20 packages guaranteed, each worth €1,800. A package consists of a €1,125 buy in to the Irish Winter Festival main event as well as four nights accommodation in the Burlington Hotel and €329 expenses for travel.
Players can buy in directly to the IWF Mega Satellite or try to qualify through one of the many daily feeder satellites or sit ‘n’ go turbo games.
