DUBLIN, Ireland -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Padraig O’Neill has won stop five of season IV of the European Masters of Poker, which was held at Clontarf Castle, Dublin, Ireland at the weekend.
O’Neill took home €32,510 for his victory in the €1,100 buy-in event, which attracted 124 runners.
The Irishman started the day as chip leader from the final table of eight and it was second-in-chips Patrik Chahmiran who would end up in the heads-up duel with O’Neill.
O’Neill had around 1.95 million to Chahmiran’s 0.5 million when they got heads up and while the Frenchman did manage to claw back some chips he never gained sufficient traction to get fully on terms with an aggressive O’Neill.
The final hand saw all the chips go in the middle pre-flop when Chahmiran was short stacked with the Irishman dominating with A-Q vs. A-J and winning.
