TCOOP 2013
The second annual Turbo Championship of Online Poker came to a speedy conclusion on Sunday night, as ‘frm1103’ from Sweden claimed the first prize of $326,880 in the $700 NL Hold’em Main Event in just over five hours’ play. The event attracted 5,060 players, who combined to create a prize pool of $3,364,900 – a big increase on the 3,667 players a prize pool of $2,438.555 a year earlier.
Overall, through the 50 events, TCOOP 2013 easily surpassed the total prize pool of TCOOP 2012, with more than $24 million awarded to players this year compared with $19.7 million 12 months ago.
The Player of the Series was ‘Tjepan’ from Denmark, who won the Champion’s Trophy and PCA 2014 package after 12 cashes and two final-table appearances. EPT Deauville
The fifth stop of EPT Season 9 is currently under way at the Casino Barriere, Deauville, with the French Poker Series taking place from January 30 to February 3 and the overlapping events of the wider EPT festival starting February 2 and ending February 9. In total there are 48 events with buy-ins ranging from a €75 satellite right up to the €10,300 High-Roller.
The main focus will be the €5,300 NL Hold’em Main Event, which takes place from February 3-9. Last year, the tournament featured 889 players and a prize pool of €4,267.200. The victor – Vadzim Kursevich – became the first player from Belarus to win an EPT Main Event and went home €875,000 richer. Can he repeat his heroics this time round? EPT London satellites
Although it’s Deauville up first, EPT London – one of the biggest festivals of the European Poker Tour calendar – is little more than a month away, so it’s good to know that online satellites to win an £8,300 Main Event package are now running at PokerStars.com. Just head to the lobby and click Events > EPT to find qualifiers starting from just €1.10.
BSOP Sao Paulo
The Brazilian Series of Poker Sao Paulo event finished earlier this week and was won by Pedro Correa, who topped a field of 642 players to scoop the first prize of USD $124,800. He beat Sao Paulo resident Pedro Padilha heads-up, with the runner-up receiving USD $77,280.
UKIPT Cork
Next stop for the U.K. & Ireland Poker Tour is Cork, Ireland in two weeks’ time. The 12-tournament festival takes place at the Rochestown Park Hotel from February 13-18, featuring a €770 Main Event with €250,000 guarantee. Masters Finale
From February 22 to March 2, players from around Europe will head to Spielbank Hohensyburg Casino in Dortmund, Germany for the Masters Finale presented by EPT. The nine-event festival will have a €1,100 Main Event (Feb 24-28) and feature members of Team PokerStars, including Boris Becker and Sandra Naujoks, who won her EPT Main Event title at the same Dortmund venue back in 2009.
