TCOOP 2013

The second annual Turbo Championship of Online Poker came to a speedy conclusion on Sunday night, as ‘frm1103’ from Sweden claimed the first prize of $326,880 in the $700 NL Hold’em Main Event in just over five hours’ play. The event attracted 5,060 players, who combined to create a prize pool of $3,364,900 – a big increase on the 3,667 players a prize pool of $2,438.555 a year earlier.

Overall, through the 50 events, TCOOP 2013 easily surpassed the total prize pool of TCOOP 2012, with more than $24 million awarded to players this year compared with $19.7 million 12 months ago.

The Player of the Series was ‘Tjepan’ from Denmark, who won the Champion’s Trophy and PCA 2014 package after 12 cashes and two final-table appearances. EPT Deauville

The fifth stop of EPT Season 9 is currently under way at the Casino Barriere, Deauville, with the French Poker Series taking place from January 30 to February 3 and the overlapping events of the wider EPT festival starting February 2 and ending February 9. In total there are 48 events with buy-ins ranging from a €75 satellite right up to the €10,300 High-Roller.

The main focus will be the €5,300 NL Hold’em Main Event, which takes place from February 3-9. Last year, the tournament featured 889 players and a prize pool of €4,267.200. The victor – Vadzim Kursevich – became the first player from Belarus to win an EPT Main Event and went home €875,000 richer. Can he repeat his heroics this time round? Follow the live coverage on the PokerStars Blog from Sunday.

EPT London satellites

Although it’s Deauville up first, EPT London – one of the biggest festivals of the European Poker Tour calendar – is little more than a month away, so it’s good to know that online satellites to win an £8,300 Main Event package are now running at PokerStars.com. Just head to the lobby and click Events > EPT to find qualifiers starting from just €1.10.

BSOP Sao Paulo

The Brazilian Series of Poker Sao Paulo event finished earlier this week and was won by Pedro Correa, who topped a field of 642 players to scoop the first prize of USD $124,800. He beat Sao Paulo resident Pedro Padilha heads-up, with the runner-up receiving USD $77,280.

UKIPT Cork

Next stop for the U.K. & Ireland Poker Tour is Cork, Ireland in two weeks’ time.
