Riverwalk hosts 5th annual “Bras for Breast Cancer” fundraiser
30 October 2012VICKSBURG, Mississippi -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Riverwalk Casino and Hotel will be hosting the 5th annual “Bras for Breast Cancer” fundraiser THIS THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1st at 9:00 a.m. at the Old Highway 80 Mississippi River Bridge.
Bras have been collected from organizations and individuals across the country and will be tallied and strung across the bridge to see if we can beat last year’s total of over 15,000 bras! This ceremony will feature a “bridge tour” so that everyone can view the donations, including the special sections of bras which were donated in honor of someone as well as fabulously decorated bras.
Immediately following the bridge tour, the grand total will be announced and Riverwalk will present a check to the American Cancer Society to fulfill the casino’s pledge to donate $1 for each bra collected.
One in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime, and we have all been touched by this disease in our lives – that’s why Riverwalk is committed to raising awareness of this disease and donating funds to the American Cancer Society.
Join us at the bridge to collect footage and photos of this significant event, which has garnered national media coverage each year, as well as interviews with survivors and family members on their inspirational stories of hope.
