(PRESS RELEASE) -- Two full days of poker at Pechanga Resort & Casino proved profitable for 60 top players. RiverCard and the Pechanga Poker Room hosted the “Quest for the Cup” tournament April 25 and 26. After the two full days of competition, Dustin Skarra of San Diego, Calif., emerged the winner ahead of 409 other contenders. He took home the first place prize of $22,140 in the $50,000 guarantee event. Buy-in was $200 + $35. Skarra, a flight paramedic, told the staff this is the most excited he has ever been playing poker. The second place player, Frank Lewis of Anza, Calif., took home about half of Skarra’s take at $11,890. The top 10 winners received payouts.
The previous day’s warm up event brought out 303 eager players vying for a shot at the $30,303 prize pool. The top 30 players won a share of $27,600. Twenty seats ($4,700 in entries) were given to the top 20 players for Saturday’s main event. The top seven chopped for $2,678 in this $20,000 Guarantee $100 + $25 buy-in event.
In June and July, two lucky poker players will drive home with the grand prizes in the “Cruzin’ with Cash” cash and car giveaway. From 11:00a.m. to 10:00p.m. on Sunday, June 29 and on Thursday, July 31, the Pechanga Poker Room will hold a drawings for $200 cash every 30 minutes. Cash winners will qualify to win a 2014 Toyota Prius to be given away to one poker player at 11:00p.m. on both days. Those who do not win the sought-after hybrid will have the chance to win $500 and $1,000 in cash. Players can earn drawing tickets by playing in any live poker game Monday through Friday in June and July. Players earn double entries by playing between 11:00a.m. and 10:00p.m. on Wednesday, June 25 and Wednesday, July 30.
The Pechanga Poker Room also features an array of special tournaments throughout the months of June and July including the “Bird House” Ladies Tea Party on June 7 with a $7,000 guarantee and wearing a hat gives players a start with $10,000, the $20,000 Guarantee “Survivor Tournament” on June 14, the $30,000 Guarantee tournament on July 5, and many more.
The Pechanga Poker Room is open 24-hours a day and is a non-smoking environment. Breakfast, lunch and dinner can be ordered tableside and an upscale, full bar is located inside the room for guests’ convenience. Pechanga Resort & Casino makes winners out of players every day.
