Stakes are high for Bahamas casinos

THE BAHAMAS -- The growth in casinos in the US has challenged the spend at casinos in The Bahamas, according to The Nassau Guardian.

The Bahamas has seen a decline in the spending coming from US states like Florida, New York and New Jersey, The Nassau Guardian report said.

A recent committee, formed to examine changing The Bahamas gaming laws, is only at an early stage in the feasiblity study.

Amendments to the gaming laws, that may include a national lottery, are thought to be critical to the survival of the gaming industry, The Nassau Guardian report noted.
