SURREY, BC -- Surrey Council rejected a casino proposal for south Surrey this weekend, the Vancouver Sun reported.
Rich Coleman, the minister responsible for gambling, declared he was disappointed and expressed criticism of the council, the report said.
200 speakers spoke at the second lengthy hearing, and the B.C Lottery Corp. had urged the city to approve the casino, The Vancouver Sun reported.
Residents however were concerned and spoke against the casino, the report noted.
