Vanek assisting U.S Federal authorities with gambling case; not facing charges

ROCHESTER, New York -- Minnesota Wild forward Thomas Vanek appeared at a Rochester court yesterday, CBC News reported.

The ice-hockey player is not facing any charges and said in a statement his co-operation was requested by U.S. Federal authorities who are investigating an illegal gambling case, the report explained.

The case involves an illegal gambling operation at a restaurant in Western New York, CBC News said.
