Washington casino to close due to recession

UNION, Washington -- As reported by the Kitsap Sun: "The Lucky Dog Casino will close, thanks to a recession that is causing many of its patrons to hole up at home.

"About 120 jobs — 80 of those full time — will be lost soon after Wednesday, the last day of operation for the casino located on Highway 101 between Union and Hoodsport.

"The casino, open since 2001, is owned by the Skokomish Tribe.

"According to a Washington State Gambling Commission spokeswoman, the Lucky Dog is the only tribal casino in Washington to shut down in the current recession..."
