Getting started:

  1. Placing a bet: Click on one of the numeric buttons to place a wager. The table's maxim and minimum wagers are listed in the lower left-hand corner of the game. The sum of the wager is displayed in the topper left corner of the game interface.
  2. The dealing of the cards: You may initiate the dealing of the cards after placing a bet for at least the minimum bet amount and then clicking on the "Deal" button.
  3. Playing the hand: Once the cards are dealt you may play your hand by clicking on one of the blackjack game option buttons, "Stand", "Hit", "Split" or "Double".

If you are using Netscape Navigator 2 or above

  • Try reloading the game by holding down the Shift key and click on the Reload button on the browser main menu bar.
  • If you need to enable your browser to run JAVA applets: Under Options on the main browser menu bar select Network Preferences. Go to the Language tab and make sure that both Enable Java and Enable JavaScript boxes have check marks in them. If you need to enable either one you should exit and reopen your browser after placing a check mark in a box.

If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 3 or above

  • Try reloading the game by clicking on the Refresh button on the browser main menu bar.
  • If you need to enable your browser to run JAVA applets: Under View on the main browser menu bar select Options. Go to the Security tab and make sure that the Enable Java Programs box at the bottom of the page has a check mark in it. If you need to enable either one you should exit and reopen your browser after placing a check mark in a box.

Blackjack Rules

General Rules

a) Player may Stand or Hit on a hand of less than 21.

b) Player busts on 22 or more

c) Player must turn cards face up if they bust.

d) Player may count Ace as either 1 or 11

e) Kings, Queens & Jacks count as 10

f) All other cards count at their face value

g) Minimum bet is $5 (US Currency)

h) Maximum bet is $50 (US Currency)

i) Player must place their bet before any cards are dealt

j) Player may only bet a single hand at a time

k) If the dealer's card is 10, Jack, Queen, King, or Ace, the dealer must look at his face down card. If it makes a natural 21, the dealer must turn it face up and announce "Black Jack".

l) If the player has the same value hand as the dealer then a standoff or push is declared.

m) If a standoff or push is declared, no payoff is made to the player. They're bet is returned to them.

n) If the dealer has a natural 21 "Black Jack" and then player does not then the player loses automatically.

o) A player holding a natural 21 "Black Jack" is paid off at 3 to 2 odds ($2 bet gives $5 payoff)

p) All bets on a normal hand are paid off at 2 to 1 ($2 bet gives $4 payoff)

q) If the player busts then the game is over and a new hand is dealt for both player and dealer.

r) When a player is satisfied with his hand and has not bust it is the dealer's turn to play.

s) When it is the dealer's turn to play he must turn his face down card face up.

t) If the dealer's total card count is 17, 18, 19, or 20, he must stay/stand.

u) If the dealer's total card count is 16 or less, he must draw a card.

v) The dealer must continue to draw cards until his count is equal to 17 or more.

w) A soft hand, i.e. a total card count equal to, or exceeding 17, which includes an Ace, he must stand/stay.

Specific Rules

"Dealing a hand"

a) The first card dealt in a game is always "burnt", i.e. removed from the game.

b) A 1st card is dealt to the player face up

c) A first card is dealt to the dealer face up

d) A 2nd card is dealt to the player face up

e) A 2nd card is dealt to the dealer face down.

Splitting Pairs

a) Any two cards of identical value are treated as a pair

b) 10, Jack, Queen & King are all equivalent

c) A player who receives two cards forming a pair on the initial round may elect to "Split"

d) The player "Split's" by separating both cards and treating them each card as the first card dealt in two separate hands.

e) The initial bet is placed on top of one of the cards.

f) An equal amount equivalent to the initial bet must be placed on top of the second card.

g) The player is dealt one face up card to the card on his right, and he must play this to conclusion.

h) The player is then dealt one face up card to the card on his left, and he must play this hand to conclusion.

i) If the player is dealt a two card hand of 21 (10 or Jack or Queen or King & an Ace) when splitting, it is not considered a natural 21 "Black Jack" and the player is paid off at 2 to 1 ($2 bet gives $4 payoff)

Insurance

a) If the dealer's face up card is an ace, the player may make an insurance bet against a natural 21 "Black Jack"

b) The insurance bet is the equivalent amount to their initial bet.

c) Once insurance has been paid, the dealer looks at his face down card, if it's a 10, it's a natural 21 "Black Jack" and the insurance is paid off at the rate of 2 to 1 ($2 bet gives $4 payoff). If the face down card was not a 10 then the player loses their insurance bet.

Double Down

a) After a player is dealt his first two cards he may elect to "Double Down" if his two cards total a count of 9, 10, or 11.

b) When the player decides to "Double Down" he must double his initial bet.

c) After the bet is placed, a third and final card is dealt to the player, this is their hand for that round.
