SALAMANCA, New York – As reported by the Associated Press: "Members of the Seneca Indian Nation on Tuesday voted 811-326 in favor of building a casino on the tribe's Allegany Reservation.
"Seneca President Rickey Armstrong said a reservation casino would create jobs on the territory and allow the tribe to improve services for residents.
"…The Senecas opened a casino in Niagara Falls last December and plan to build another in suburban Buffalo. The reservation casino, about 50 miles south of Buffalo, would be the third of three allowed under a 2002 agreement between New York state and the Senecas.
"`We have already begun to implement beneficial programs for our members by using some of the profits from our Niagara Falls casino,' Armstrong said. `But having multiple casino venues will provide us with a diversified revenue stream with which we will fund a full range of programs to improve the quality of life for our members.'
