New Cards in Blackjack

24 April 2021

By John Marchel

When you experience new deck(s) of playing cards introduced into the game of blackjack the player will end up with a disadvantage. The main reason is because new cards come in a predetermined order from the factory.

For example, the cards are arranged in ace through king, king through ace and so on throughout the deck, regardless the number of decks introduced. This will cause the cards to clump up with the 10s in one part of the deck and low cards in another part, at least in the beginning of play.

The dealer will not shuffle the deck(s) enough to randomize them. This will be a great time for the player to take a break or move to another table.

Playing with a single deck will generally take seven shuffles for the deck to get to a random stage and at least 45 minutes against a six-deck shoe. Look at this way; the deck(s) is a little “stacked” against you, so take some time out, and give the cards a little time to spread out into a normal random order.
