LONDON, England -- Rules are likely to be introduced that prohibit all professional athletes from gambling on any competition they participate in, The Guardian reported.

In the wake of various match fixing scandals in England, the British government commissioned a review of sports integrity, establishing The Sports Betting Group, The Guardian said.

There are currently different rules depending on the sport that are made by the bodies who govern them, The Guardian report noted.
