Racecourse Media Group announces appointment of Nigel Railton as new Chair

19 September 2026

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Racecourse Media Group is delighted to announce the appointment of Nigel Railton as its new Chair.

Nigel brings extensive board-level, commercial and leadership experience from a distinguished career spanning media, consumer-facing and highly regulated industries.

He currently serves as Chair of Post Office Ltd, a role he has held since May 2024, and is leading the organization's transformation program and stakeholder rebuilding efforts. He is also a trustee of The Social Mobility Foundation.

He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Camelot U.K., operator of The National Lottery, where he led a significant business turnaround and oversaw sustained sales growth, record returns to good causes and the successful expansion of the business's digital operations.

Prior to that, he was Chief Executive Officer of Camelot Global, building the international business and securing major lottery contracts in Ireland, Europe and the United States.

Earlier in his career, Nigel, a qualified accountant, held senior finance, operations and strategy roles at Railtrack, Black & Decker and Daewoo Cars.

James Sanderson, RMG Non-Executive Director, said: "We are delighted to welcome Nigel as Chair of Racecourse Media Group. Nigel brings an outstanding blend of commercial leadership, governance experience and strategic vision, gained through a career leading some of the U.K.'s most recognizable and highly regulated organizations.

"His track record of delivering growth, embracing innovation and building strong relationships with stakeholders makes him an ideal fit for RMG and our shareholder racecourses. As we look to the future of racing media rights and fan engagement, Nigel's leadership will be a tremendous asset to the business and the sport."

Nigel said: "I am delighted to be appointed Chair of Racecourse Media Group. RMG is a highly respected organization with a proven track record of delivering value for its shareholder racecourses and helping to promote the sport to audiences around the world.

"The media landscape continues to evolve rapidly, creating both opportunities and challenges. I look forward to working with the Board, Nick Mills and the wider team to build on the company's success, strengthen its partnerships and support the long-term growth and sustainability of racing."

Nigel will take up the role on 1 October, succeeding Conor Grant, who will stay for a one-month handover until 1 November. Conor has chaired the organization since April 2023.

RMG CEO Nick Mills added: "Conor leaves RMG having made a significant and lasting contribution to the business. His guidance, support and leadership have been invaluable, and we are extremely grateful for everything he has done for the organization and our shareholder racecourses.

"At the same time, we are thrilled to welcome Nigel to RMG. I look forward to working with him as we continue to grow our audiences, strengthen our partnerships and maximize value for our racecourses."
